To this end, we provide complimentary resources, advocacy campaigns, and local personal support to build scalable financial wellness initiatives throughout North Dakota.

Strengthening North Dakota with Sustainable Economic Empowerment Programming

The mission of the North Dakota Financial Educators Council℠ is to build sustainable, scalable economic empowerment programs that have a real impact on people’s lives at the community level. To accomplishing this mission, we focus on these 3 Pillars:

Pillar 1: Increase Access & Develop Sustainable Financial Education Programming.

Organizations – We provide resources, training, personnel, and support to build scalable financial wellness programming.

Individuals & Families – Resources and courses are provided for those seeking to improve their own finances and/or teach their kids about money.

Pillar 2: Raise Awareness for Economic Empowerment through Financial Education.

Advocacy Promotion Campaigns – We promote the adoption of financial literacy into schools, getting families involved in teaching kids about money, and encouraging individuals to improve their knowledge.

Local Financial Education Data – Conducting and curating North Dakota-specific personal finance research to share with stakeholders across the education and media sectors.

North Dakota Financial Literacy

In North Dakota, financial literacy has become extremely important with an effort begun by the North Dakota Financial Educators Council℠. This North Dakota financial literacy drive is receiving nationwide recognition for providing residents and organizations across the Peace Garden State with crucial information and resources related to managing one’s personal finances. Offering such resources helps increase overall financial competency among citizens and build a sense of community, according to the North Dakota financial literacy team.

North Dakota Financial Literacy Legislation & Educational Stats

The Peace Garden State has an excellent student/teacher ratio (11.78) compared with the national average (16.06). Thinly-populated North Dakota has far fewer total schools than the national average (528 vs. 1,972) and also many fewer total students (106,586 vs. 986,521). This research was presented in 2014-15 by the Common Core of Data (CCD, a program of the National Center for Education Statistics at the U.S. Department of Education).

In data presented by the National Conference of State Legislatures, as of 2015 North Dakota was not debating any legislation concerning financial education in its public schools.

About the North Dakota Financial Educators Council℠

The North Dakota Financial Educators Council℠ is pushing for financial literacy across the state as part of a broader campaign steered by the National Financial Educators Council® (NFEC®).
